BANGALORE, NOV. 8. Some of the State Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are camping in New Delhi with regard to the appointment of the next president of the State unit. They include the leaders of the opposition in the two Houses of the Legislature B.S. Yediyurappa (Assembly) and D.H. Shankaramurthy (Council). According to sources, most of the leaders are against the appointment of the former Chief Minister, S. Bangarappa, as president as he is a newcomer to the party, though influential with a section of the people of the State. Some of the supporters of Mr. Bangarappa held demonstrations favouring his appointment in Shimoga district today. The recently-appointed all India General Secretary H.N. Ananth Kumar, MP, who resigned the presidentship of the State unit is now stated to be canvassing the case of Jagadish Shettar, MLA, as appointment as his successor. However, Mr. Yediyurappa and some other leaders are having their own choices. With Mr. Shettar's name coming to the fore, that of the MP from Mangalore, D.V. Sadananda Gowda, has receded. The name of the senior party leader, Ramachandra Gowda, MLC, is in the reckoning .
