COIMBATORE, NOV. 8. The Labour Department today launched a drive against cracker shops selling crackers at prices higher than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) and for not mentioning the MRP on the packets.

Following complaints, the Joint Commissioner of Labour, Sankari, and the Inspector of Labour, C. Thangavel, launched the drive in Coimbatore city, Pollachi, Udumalpet and Valparai during which the sale in as many as 47 shops were inspected.

During the raid, the officials came across shops selling crackers at prices over and above the MRP and for not mentioning the prices on the packets in as many as 26 shops.
