dated November 10, 1954: Requisites of a politician

The only specialised activity which does not require training is that of a politician, according to Prime Minister Nehru. "For that no training is required. It only requires a certain aptitude, a certain amount of gumption. I do not mean that it applies to every politician, otherwise we cannot get on. I mean to say there is no standard of training there, obviously there is none. You will find highly qualified and highly trained people and totally untrained people also because there is no standard laid down whatsoever." He made these remarks while addressing the NDC in New Delhi.
