JAIPUR, NOV. 9. Experts from several countries will discuss issues relating to research on non-Government organisations, challenges before NGOs in the rural power structure, public-private partnership and sustainability and empowerment of the poor at an international conference to be held here from November 26 to 28. The three-day event, "Researching the non-Governmental sector with reference to India and South Asia perspectives'', is being organised by the Jaipur-based Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) in collaboration with the London School of Economics. The Director of IIHMR, S.D. Gupta, said here today that many of the selected participants had a strong background in social service research. The conference will bring together about 20 participants from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Besides issues in NGO research, the role of NGOs in development of women and disabled children as well as the NGOs' relationship with the Government and official agenciesDavid Lewis from London School of Economics; Quadeer Baig, Deputy Director, Agha Khan Foundation, Karachi; Abdul Hussain, Director, Power and Participation Research Centre, Dhaka; and D. Khannal, Director, Social Welfare, Government of Nepal, will be among the key participants.
