Robust tax collections

NEW DELHI, NOV. 9. Enthused by robust corporate and income-tax collections in the first seven months, Centre's direct tax mop up vaulted by about 34 per cent to Rs. 51,647 crores, raising the hopes of meeting the fiscal deficit target of 4.4 per cent of GDP this year.

Corporate tax collections shot up by 41 per cent to Rs. 29,434 crores and income-tax mop up grew by 25 per cent to Rs. 22,213 crores in April-October this year, Finance Ministry sources told PTI here today.
