Wilting lotus

Sir, — This refers to the editorial "Wilting lotus" (Nov. 8). The BJP president, L.K. Advani, is clearly finding it difficult to strike a balance between the BJP's Hindutva and the ideology of the Sangh Parivar. But the BJP should be complimented for abiding by the court verdict in the Ayodhya issue when in power. As for internal differences, no political party is free from power struggles.

K.S. Thampi,
Chennai

Sir, — Pursuing the agenda of a Ram Mandir may again lead to communal clashes. The people of Ayodhya are no longer interested in the issue. They want peace.

Ravi Kant Priyadarshi,
Ayodhya, U.P.

Sir, — People may not be very forthcoming in their support for a Ram temple as a makeshift temple exists at the disputed site. The issue is no longer emotionally charging.

V.A. Gopala,
Bangalore
