COIMBATORE: The Southern India Engineering Manufacturers' Association has said that the increase in the petroleum product prices will hit the activities of the engineering and foundry sector in the country. In a release, the association president, C. R. Swaminathan, said the engineering industries were already facing many issues such as increase in the prices of raw materials and power tariff and high labour cost. "At this juncture, the hike in the prices of petroleum products will be an additional burden to the engineering sector."
The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association has said that the increase in cost of petrol and diesel will hike the transportation cost of the goods.
