NEW DELHI, NOV. 9. Preetinder Singh slotted home seven goals including an hat-trick as Government Model School, Chandigarh, blanked Union Academy Senior Secondary School, Delhi, 15-0 and qualified for the quarterfinals of the Nehru sub-junior hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Tuesday. Preetinder scored four goals in the first half and then let loose on changing ends to score the hat-trick, finding the post in the 53rd, 54th and 58th minutes. Dupinder Singh (2nd and 17th), Ranjodh Singh (20th, 29th and 41st), Sandeep Singh (26th), Suminder Singh (49th) and Sandeep Singh Jr. (51st) were the other scorers. SGPS Academy, Ludhiana, Army Boys Sports Coy, Bangalore, and Udai Pratap inter-college, Varanasi, were the other schools that made it to the quarterfinals. SGPS Academy defeated St. Ignatius High School, Gumla, Jharkhand, 2-1, while the Army Boys achieved 4-1 result against B. S. High School, Sundergarh. In the fourth match of the day, Udai Pratap inter-college, Varanasi, drew with Town High School, Sundergarh, 2-2 and earned the last available berth in the quarterfinals. Town High School had already made it to the last eight stage and the draw on Tuesday helped its opponent also to sneak in.
