India to host Argentina

NEW DELHI, NOV. 9. India, led by Samir Suhag, will take on Argentina in the first official polo series between the two countries, here on November 14.

Argentina Polo Association has approved the series and it would be an annual affair, said Lt. Gen. V. G. Patankar, chief of the Indian Polo Association.

The tournament would be known as the Chivas Regal International polo series.

A specially selected Indian team will compete against the foreign team, for an international event on home soil for a 20-goal tournament, the Lt. General said.

He said that the Equestrian Federation of India has hired a German coach, Rudolph.

He said the two teams were named by a selection committee nominated by the Indian and Argentina Polo Associations.

The teams:

India: Angad Kalan, Samir Suhag (capt.), Vishal Singh, Syed Basheer Ali. Reserve: Uday Kalan (all +5 handicappers).

Argentina: Gerarda Mazzini (capt. +7), Jorge Donavan (+6), David Bernal (+5), Fabio Lavina (+3). Reserve: Esteban Lturrioz (+3).

Umpires: Maj. Atul Gupta, Howard Hipwood. Referee: V. P. Singh. — UNI
