Madras teams in semifinals

KARAIKUDI, NOV. 9. University of Madras entered the semifinals in both the men's and women's section of the South Zone inter-university table tennis tournament here on Tuesday.

The results:

Men:

Quarterfinals: Madras bt Bangalore 3-0; VTU, Belgaum bt Osmania 3-1; Kerala bt Karnataka 3-0; NTR, Vijayawada bt Anna 3-1.

Pre-quarterfinals:

NTR bt Acharya Nagarjuna 3-0; Bangalore bt Gulbarga 3-0; Osmania bt Andhra 3-0; Karnataka bt NIT University, Suratkal 3-1.

Second round: Acharya Nagarjuna bt Sri Venkateswara, Tirupathi 3-1; NIT bt SKU, Anantapur 3-1; Karnataka bt Madurai Kamaraj 3-0; Andhra bt Calicut 3-1; Osmania bt Bharatiar 3-0; Bangalore bt Kuvembu 3-2; Gulbarga bt Gandhigram Rural University 3-0.

Women: Quarterfinals: Madras bt Bangalore 3-0; Kerala bt Rajiv Gandhi VHS, Karnataka 3-0; VTU, Bangalore bt Anna 3-1; Mysore w/o Kerala Agricultural University.
