India goes down to Hungary
MUMBAI,
NOV. 9.
Indian chess champion for the blind Rajesh Oza won all-round praise for his gritty defence when he managed to rob the Hungarians of half-a-point in the fifth round of the 12th World Chess Olympiad for the blind being played at Hotel Palas Pinada at Tarragona in Spain on Monday.
The Russians are sharing the lead with Poland (15) after drawing 2-2 in a breathtaking encounter between the hot favourites.
The Indians were no match for the widely experienced Hungarian chess team. Only Oza on the top board provided a tough time as he drew the game after six hours of bitter struggle. In fact, Oza missed an opportunity to win.
The Indians would now meet Norway in the sixth round. UNI
