Cuddapah
By Our Staff Reporter
CUDDAPAH, NOV. 9. CPI functionaries staged a dharna in front of the Cuddapah Government Hospital on Tuesday, demanding basic amenities for poor patients. Medicare was beyond the reach of poor people, the CPI leaders -- W. Ramu and P. Chennakesava Reddy, the AITUC leader, M. Vinod, and the AISF leader, C. Subramanyam, said. The poor depended on the Government hospital as exorbitant charges were collected in private hospitals, but the required medicines not available in Government hospitals, they lamented. Stray dog menace was rampant all over, but the hospital lacked anti-rabies vaccine, they pointed out. Even bandage cloth and syringes were not available in the hospital, the CPI leaders alleged. They wanted bodies of deceased persons be handed over to their relatives after post-mortem without fuss. The Government should ensure that the hospital functioned properly and sanitation standards maintained, they said.
