BANGALORE, NOV. 9. The Online Lottery Retailers' Forum has appealed to the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, and the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, to lift the ban on online lottery. In a memorandum submitted through the Director of Small Savings and Lotteries, H. Raghupathi, and the convenor of the forum, Devidasan, the forum has said that the ban on online lottery has proved to be counter productive, as it has led to an increase in the sale of single digit and other illegal forms of lottery, and the State is losing over Rs. 100 crores revenue a year.
Unfair
"It is unfair that the Government has banned a transparent lottery, while lotteries whose credibility is in question are allowed to operate freely," the Forum has said. It is unfortunate that being a leader in the information technology sector, the State has banned online lottery which is known for its transparency at a time when the world has switched to online lottery from paper lottery.
