VIJAYAWADA, NOV. 9. The sky will be beautifully lit with fireworks enhancing the splendour of the cluster of stars sprinkled around. The moon will shine in an orb as usual. But, Deepavali will never be the same for young Sirisha and Radha. This will be the second occasion when the girls would witness the festival of lights being reduced to a mere transitory phase. The siblings lost their mother, Anjamma, and an older sister, Rama, in a road mishap in January last year.
Dreams shattered
It all happened in a fraction of a second. The girls can vividly recollect the devastating scene. They were on their way to Bhawanipuram to spend some good time with their relatives. Even as they walked daydreaming, they were suddenly jolted out of their reverie. The very next moment had the girls in a state of shock as they helplessly watched a speeding mini lorry knocking down their mother and sister, Rama. It was a fatal knock and the two bodies lay still on the road.
Cynosure of all eyes
Sirisha and Radha were the cynosure of all eyes at the mega lok adalat, conducted on the premises of the civil courts here on Tuesday. The siblings accompanied their father to seek justice in the adalat. Tracking down the culprits and punishing them for the offence might not undo the loss but it could certainly prevent orphanahood of other children by such reckless driving.
