Temperature

TIRUCHI, NOV. 9 . The city today registered a maximum temperature of 30.6 degree Celsius and a minimum of 22.9 degree Celsius.

Fatal fall

A student of a city college, Anand of Thuvakkudimalai, reportedly died after a fall from a motorcycle today.

The victim, who drove the vehicle, with his friend, Kamaludeen, on the pillion, died on way to the K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College Hospital. The latter was admitted to the hospital with injuries.

Suicide

A youth committed suicide by setting himself afire after coming out on bail, following his arrest over the death of a girl he reportedly refused to marry.

Murugesan (27) of Muslimtheru was said to have refused to marry Ilamathi (21) of the same area, which drove the latter to commit suicide in June. He was subsequently arrested and let on bail 10 days ago. The Uppiliapuram police have registered a case.

Dies of injuries

An unidentified man, found with injuries on the Tiruchi-Chennai Bypass Road and admitted to the K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College Hospital, succumbed to injuries today.

Bill enquiry

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has launched an interactive voice response system-based Bill Enquiry Service in the city.

Landline subscribers can access the service by dialling 19611 (English), or 19612 (Tamil), to get details relating to their bills, such as the bill date, amount outstanding and the due date. It will be a non-metered service.

The subscribers could also approach the nearest Bill Collection Counters for obtaining duplicate bills, according to a BSNL release.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur dam stood at 97.01 feet today. The inflow was 13,147 cusecs, and the discharge 100 cusecs.
