Hartal today

THIRUVANANTHAPYURAM, NOV. 9. The Pappanamcode local committee of the CPI(M) has called for a `hartal' tomorrow in the Industrial Estate, Kaimanam, Neeramankara, and Edagramam areas in the city, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in protest against the alleged attack on Naushad, the joint secretary of the Industrial Estate ward unit of the DYFI, by RSS activists. According to the police, Naushad, a scooter mechanic, has been admitted to the General Hospital with injuries in his left arm.

Church festival

The festival at Madre-De-Deus Church at Vettukad will commence on November 12 and conclude on November 21 with various programmes. The District Collector has declared a half-day holiday for the Government offices and educational institutions in Thiruvananthapuram and Neyyattinkara taluks on November 12.
