LUCKNOW, NOV. 10. Independent candidate Y D Singh won the Gorakhpur-Faizabad Graduates' Constituency of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Parishad defeating his nearest Samajwadi Party rival and sitting MLC Devendra Pratap Singh by 1176 votes. Election Office sources here said that the result was declared this evening after the counting was delayed due to some technical reasons. With this result the Samajwadi Party, the Congress and the BJP have bagged one seat each while five have been won by independents in the Vidhan Parishad elections held last week. -- PTI
