Cases against officers recommended

CHANDIGARH, NOV.10. The Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has recommended registration of criminal cases against 17 gazetted officers, 84 officials and 11 others as they were found guilty in the enquiries conducted by the Bureau.

According to an official spokesman, the Bureau also recommended recovery of over Rs.2.44 crores, registration of cases and initiation of departmental action against the defaulters. It had also recommende departmental action against 35 officers, 56 officials and 23 others.

He said that the Revenue Wing of the Bureau had detected a case of leakage of revenue amounting to over Rs.1.52 crore. It also recommended departmental action against a gazetted officer involved in the case. The Excise and Taxation Wing of the Bureau detected seven cases of sales tax evasion amounting to Rs.28,000 and recovered penalty from the defaulters. The Bureau also caught red-handed seven officers and officials while accepting illegal gratification ranging from Rs.500 to Rs.45,000.
