LUCKNOW, NOV. 10. The Uttar Pradesh Power Regularity Authority today announced a hike in power tariff by 2.7 per cent on average on all categories while the domestic consumers would be burdened by an increase of 3.2 per cent. The Authority chairman, Bijoy Kumar, said that against an 8 per cent average hike in all categories as demanded in the Annual Revenue Requirement by the UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), it was decided to hike it by only 2.7 per cent. The new power tariff rates would be implemented within a week after Diwali. Mr Kumar said the UPPCL would generate Rs 169 crores additional revenue with this tariff hike while the demand was for Rs 510 crores. Under the new rates, consumers would get electricity within the range of Re 0.75 per unit to Rs 3.90 per unit which was Re 0.60 to Rs 4.05 in the past.
