KOZHIKODE, NOV. 10. The Kozhikode First Class Magistrate's Court- III today rejected the statement filed by Rejina, the key witness and victim in the Kozhikode ice-cream parlour sex case, when she was arrested and produced before the same Court last week. The arrest of Rejina last week was based on charges that she had trespassed into the house of Prasad, who was reportedly her former lover, at Kannancherry here and attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison on January 15, 1998. The court today rejected the statement as it had nothing to do with the case that was before the court. Meanwhile, V.A. Beena, activist of the Jnanathipathya Vanitha Sangatana owing allegiance to the CPI(ML) Red Flag of K.T.Kunhikannan today filed a private petition before the Kozhikode Judicial First Class Magistrate-IV praying to the court to look into the circumstances that led to filing of the statement of Rejina before the Kozhikode First Class Magistrate Court-III last week. The petitioner prayed before the court that the role of Rauf, relative of P. K. Kunhalikutty, Industries Minister and Rauf's assistant, Sherif behind Rejina's recent statement, which is alleged to be contrary to her earlier statement before the media, may also be probed. The Court while receiving the petition posted it for further proceedings on November 20.
