Abducted boy rescued, two held

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, NOV. 10. Two persons, who allegedly kidnapped a two-year-old boy from outside his house at Nangloi on Tuesday for a ransom of Rs. 3 lakh, have been arrested by the West Delhi police. The boy was rescued from a Sultanpuri house and handed over to his parents.

On Tuesday evening, Manender Dev Sharma lodged a complaint alleging that his son, Tarun, had been kidnapped from outside his house. He raised suspicion that his neighbour, Ravi, could be involved in the incident.

Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case and rounded up Ravi. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the kidnapping. Ravi disclosed that he had kept Tarun in the house of his friend, Kamal, at Sultanpuri. Subsequently, the police raided the place and rescued Tarun. Kamal and Ravi were also arrested.

It came to light that Ravi had planning the kidnapping about five days ago and had also made an unsuccessful attempt on Monday. The next day, Ravi picked up Tarun from outside his house around 11-15 a.m., hired a rickshaw and handed him over to Kamal. Kamal got scared and brought the child to his house. He asked Ravi to come there to plan further course of action.

In the meantime, Ravi returned home to avoid any suspicion about his involvement. After making sure that Tarun's family had not contacted the place, he went to Jwala Heri and made a ransom call asking for Rs. 3 lakh. Ravi revealed that he was under debt of about Rs. 1 lakh and Kamal too was facing financial crunch. Therefore, they planned to kidnap Tarun and extract money from Manender, who is a dye designer.

Another case

A 12-year-old boy, who was kidnapped by a rickshaw puller from outside his school at Jehangirpuri this Monday, was rescued by the North-West Delhi police from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The accused has been arrested.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West Delhi), Sanjay Singh, the Jahangirpuri police received a complaint from Hansroop, a resident of Bhalaswa Dairy, alleging that his son, Sonu, had been kidnapped by a rickshaw puller, Umesh Singh, who used to ferry him to school everyday.

Investigations revealed that after kidnapping Sonu, Umesh took him to Moradabad. Subsequently, a team went to Moradabad and managed to arrest him from Chandausi railway station while he was trying to flee with Sonu.
