Clear day

NEW DELHI NOV. 10. The Capital is likely to have another misty morning on Thursday with the sky remaining largely clear through the day, the weatherman said. The minimum temperature is likely to hover around 11 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and the minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Wednesday were 29.1 and 11.2 degrees Celsius. While at Palam, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 29.6 and 12.2 degrees Celsius respectively. Safdarjung and Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 88 and 75 per cent, while the minimum was 22 and 19 per cent respectively.

Spotlight on small business

NEW DELHI NOV. 10. The Commonwealth Secretariat, London, in collaboration with the Indian National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) here will host a pan-Commonwealth programme next week on "Small Business Competitiveness Development". The five-day programme will be held here at Hotel Maurya Sheraton from November 15 to 19. Policy-makers and practitioners representing over 40 member-States from the Commonwealth are expected to attend.

The objective is to showcase India's achievements in the area of small business development as well as share experiences and lessons learnt from the rest of the Commonwealth. The Union Minister for Small Scale Industries and Agro and Rural Industries, Mahabir Prasad, will inaugurate the programme.

Arrested

NEW DELHI NOV. 10. Seven people, who were allegedly planning a robbery at a petrol pump, were arrested from Dhaula Kuan in South-West Delhi on Tuesday. A country-made firearm was recovered from their possession.

The Delhi Cantonment police received a tip-off that some criminals would gather near a DDA Park at Dhaula Kuan to plan a robbery at a petrol pump. Subsequently, they mounted a raid and arrested seven people. They were identified as Rajinder Singh, Nagender, Paramjit Singh, Munan, Mohammad Nazim, Mohammad Safiq and Afzal.
