Followers clash at Nampally Baba's burial
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
NOV. 10.
A clash ensued between two groups of followers of Nampally Baba during the latter's burial at Deepthisrinagar in Miyapur on Wednesday forcing the Kukatpally police to cane protestors.
The police arrested a leader of one of the groups, Sravan Kumar, and his son, Krishna, in connection with the incident.
The Baba's devotees arrived at a consensus this morning to perform his last rites at an open land (survey no. 102) belonging to Dharmakshetram Trust. However, Sravan Kumar and a handful of his supporters reached the place and raised objections over the selection of the place for burial.
When other followers picked up an argument, Kumar allegedly pushed down one of them and even manhandled policemen, the Balanagar ACP, S. Diwakar, said. The 72-year-old Baba had died on November 6 following illness.
