CHENNAI, NOV. 12. Madras won the All-India inter-university boys' basketball trophy, defeating Punjabi 76-71 in the final at Utkal University, Bhubaneshwar, on Wednesday. For Madras, Saravanarajan (25), Amarnath Gopi (24) and Leonard Charles (17) played well.Jasbir (18) and Gurbeer Singh (32) put up a good show for Punjabi. Calicut finished third, beating Utkal 66-55. In the semifinals, Madras defeated Utkal 83-45, while Punjabi prevailed over Calicut 68-57. In the quarterfinals, Madras toppled defending champion Punjab 56-51. In all 16 teams took part in the tournament.
