New block of Legislators' Home by March 2005

BANGALORE, NOV. 12. The Government plans to complete the new block of the Legislators' Home and renovate the older one by March 2005.

This was stated today by the Minister for Public Works and Energy, H.D. Revanna, who inspected the ongoing works along with the acting Chairman of the Legislative Council, V.R. Sudarshan.

Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Revanna said that the Government would spend Rs. 10.5 crores on the works. The renovation of 88 rooms in the old block of the Legislators' Home would cost Rs. 5.2 crores, and the construction of the new block, which would have 38 family flats, Rs. 5.35 crores. He would be meeting the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, on the release of the required funds. The renovation work would be completed by January-end.

The construction would be completed by March-end. A toilet for the public would also be built on the premises. Earlier, Mr. Sudarshan urged the Minister to complete the works on time.

The Principal Secretary for Public Works, Prahlad B. Mahishi; the Secretary to the Legislative Assembly, T. Rajanna; and the acting Secretary to the Council, K. Jayashankar Murthy, were present.
