BANGALORE, NOV. 12. The Karnataka High Court has rejected a bail application by Rashid of Kozhikode in Kerala, who was among the several accused in a kidnap and dacoity case. According to the police, Rashid and others kidnapped a jeweller's employee on August 7, 2003 and robbed him of Rs. 10 lakhs. The employee, Umar, was on his way from Bangalore to Kozhikode in a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) when the incident occurred. The money belonged to Syannudin, the employer of Mr. Umar. Mr. Syannudin was following the bus in his car. When the bus stopped at a roadside hotel in Maddur, four persons kidnapped Mr. Umar when he alighted from the bus. They robbed him of the money and fled. Mr. Syannudin lodged a complaint with the Maddur police. Rashid was one among the culprits arrested.
