PUDUKOTTAI, NOV 12. The district administration has proposed to construct 1,066 group houses at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.41 crores for the rural people, says a press release issued here. A total of 533 houses would be upgraded at a cost of Rs. 66.59 lakhs under the scheme of upgrading kutcha houses. Under the Prime Minister's Gramodaya Yojana, 268 group houses would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 74.12 lakhs. The administration has planned to take up 1,521 works under the Swarna Jayanthi Gram Rozgar Yojana, for which wages to the tune of Rs. 207.16 lakhs as cash and rice worth Rs. 621.5 lakhs had been allotted. Under SGRY I and II, a total of 2,803 development works would be taken up for which a sum of Rs. 943.85 lakhs and 7,874 metric tonnes of rice had been allotted. Under the MP's local area development scheme, as many as 43 works have been taken up at a cost of Rs. 119.8 lakhs while 68 development works have been taken up at a cost of Rs. 44.85 lakhs under the MLA constituency development scheme. A sum of Rs. 161.25 lakhs had been received to implement the Swarna Jayanthi Gram Swarozgar Yojana.
