Skandha Sashti begins

PALANI, NOV. 12. Skandha Sashti celebrations in the Dhandayuthapaniswamy temple here began today with `kaapu kattu' (tying of the holy rope).

Special poojas and aradhanas were performed. With priests chanting holy hymns and othuvars singing verses from Thevaram, gurukkals tied the holy rope around the dwajasthambam. Lord Muthukumaraswamy was taken on an elephant around the temple.

The temple administration made elaborate arrangements for pilgrims. The Police deployed adequate personnel to regulate pilgrims and streamline the traffic. Parking lots were created at vantage points in the town to ease traffic congestion near Padhavinayagar temple and giri veedhis.

Soorasamharam would take place at 6.10 p.m. on November 17 and the festival conclude on November 18 with Thirukalyana utsvam.

A team of gurukkals performed special poojas and aradhanas to the main deity in Subramaniaswamy temple at Thirumalaikeni at Sengurichi near Dindigul town. Shodasa maha deeparadhanai and Thirupugazh bhajan were performed. Soorsamharam would take place at. 4.30 p.m. on November 17.
