Two die in Thanjavur wall collapse

THANJAVUR,
NOV. 12.
Two persons were killed and three others injured in two different incidents of wall collapse following heavy rain in Thanjavur district last night.
According to official sources, Rukmini of Pallathur village in Sethubavachathiram panchayat union and Nagamma (65) of Ponnapur in Orathanadu taluk died when the wall of their huts collapsed. In the Ponnapur incident, three others were injured in a wall collapse. They were admitted to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital.
The district has been experiencing intermittent showers today. Rainfall recorded during the 24-hour period ending at 8 a.m.today:Adhirampattinam 22 mm, Kumbakonam 27 mm, Papanasam 27 mm, Thanjavur 36 mm, Vallam 49 mm, Ayyampettai 12 mm, Thiruvidaimaruthur 48 mm, Neyvasal Thenpathi 26.8 mm, Budalur 10 m and Orathanadu 21 mm.
