NEW DELHI, NOV. 12. The Centre has asked the Tamil Nadu Government to provide it detailed information on the arrest of the Kanchi Acharya The Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, told The Hindu that "the State Government has been asked to make available to us all relevant information at its disposal. We have also asked them to ensure that the situation is kept under control." Senior officials here said that the Centre was keen on not getting involved in what was primarily a State Government decision. But there is a feeling that given the sensitivities involved, the arrest could perhaps have been made after Diwali (celebrated in the north on Friday).
