CHENNAI, NOV. 12. A three-year-old girl died after a bus hit her at the Foreshore Estate bus terminus on Thursday. Police said Vela, a resident of Chintadripet, was on his way home after visiting relatives in Foreshore Estate with his daughter, V. Kanmani, when the latter was hit by an MTC bus around 5.30 p.m., while waiting at the terminus. The child was rushed to the Government Royapettah Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Agitated over the driver's behaviour, members of the public damaged windshields of three MTC buses and staged a road roko. The police said the bus driver had been arrested and cases filed against him under Section 304A (causing death by rash or negligent act) of the Indian Penal Code and under section 184 (driving dangerously) of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act.
