Temperature

MADURAI, NOV.12. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 27.8 degree Celsius and a minimum of 23.5 degree Celsius.

Rainfall

The Madurai Airport received 7.5 mm of rainfall. The amounts of rainfall registered in other places (in mm) were: Andipatti (Theni) — 32, Melur — 15, Kallandiri and Andipatti (Madurai) — 10 mm each, Sathaiyar dam and Vaigai dam — 9 mm each, Mettupatti — 8, Pulipatti — 7, Madurai and Thaniyamangalam — 6 mm each, Veerapandi — 5, Shanmuganadi — 4, Tekkadi and Viraghanoor — 3 mm each. Periyar dam, Tekkadi, Gudalur, Idayapatti also recorded showers.

Killed in accident

One person was killed in a road accident at Kalavasal here today. According to the police, P. Ganesan (60), a typewriting institute owner of Vasantha Nagar, was returning home in a motorcycle when a State-owned bus ran over him. The victim fell on the road when his two-wheeler slipped into a roadside trench. The Subramaniapuram police have registered a case.
