Weather

Forecast: Partly cloudy sky. Waltair, the maximum temperature was 30.6 degree Celsius and the minimum was 23.5 degree Celsius on Friday. At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 32.4 degree Celsius and 22.8 degree Celsius. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 77 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 72 per cent. The maximum and minimum temperatures at the Dolphin's Nose were 30.2 degree Celsius and 20.9 degree Celsius. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 84 per cent.

GAIL gesture

GAIL India Ltd has donated Rs.5.7 lakhs to Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital for purchase of a digital photo slit lamp. The GAIL (India) Ltd General Manager, R.K. Garg, and other officials who visited the hospital at Simhachalam also donated Rs.1.1 lakhs to the foundation to conduct an eye camp and perform surgeries.

Tourism expo

The Department of Tourism will allot stalls for exhibition and sale of handicrafts, handlooms and gift items at Urban Haat at Jatara at Madhuravwada as part of `Kartika Sambaralu' from November 13, according to the Tourism Information Officer, D. Bank adalat

Indian Bank, Visakhapatnam Circle Office, conducted a Lok Adalat for settlement of dues through the District Legal Services Authority at Nyaya Seva Sadan at the District Court premises recently. In all 75 borrowers attended the meeting in which 51 cases were settled and awards passed for Rs.16 lakhs. Education Day

City Gems School, M.T.C. Palem, celebrated Education Day on Thursday. Competitions were held in personality development and public speaking. The DEO (retired), Gulam Mohedi, the school Principal, Uma Rani, and others were present.

Food festival

`Mera Yaar Chettiyar', a nine-day festival of Punjabi and Chettinad cuisines, opens at the Bamboo Bay restaurant of The Park hotel on Saturday. According to a release, the festival will highlight the culinary excellence of these two communities.
