Temperature

TIRUCHI, NOV. 12. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 27.4 degree Celsius and a minimum of 23.5 degree Celsius.

Nominated

K. Parthasarathy, Director, Department of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension, has been nominated to the five-member UGC Expert Committee on reviewing adult, continuing education and extension activities of Indian universities and establishing new departments for those activities.

Accident

An omnibus plying between Chennai and Pudukottai dashed against an electric lamp post near Tiruvannaikovil and damaged a few shops. None was injured in the accident, police sources said.

Commits suicide

Kaliamoorthy (34) of Tiruvalluvar Nagar in Ariyamangalam limits, a driver, reportedly committed suicide by hanging today. The cause for his death was not known, police said.

Cardiac camp

A hundred patients were treated free of cost today at a `mega cardiac camp' organised by Moorthy's Hospital in the city to mark its first anniversary. According to the Medical Director, Haresh Kumar, investigations such as blood grouping, ECG, Echo ColorDoppler, Chest X-ray, and haemoglobin, random sugar, urea, creatinine, and cholesterol testing, and consultation, were made.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur dam stood at 99.10 feet today. The inflow was 8,668 cusecs and the discharge 100 cusecs.
