HYDERABAD, NOV. 12. A five-year-old boy, Vikas, who was allegedly kidnapped from his house in Bowenpally on Thursday was rescued within 24 hours by the police. Three persons, who allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs. 20 lakhs, were arrested. Data of incoming and outgoing calls made by the `kidnappers' through a mobile, traced the kingpin, Tejaram, to Bowenpally. At the instance of Tejaram, the other accused -- Rakesh and Maharaj -- were rounded up after a raid on a house in Acharya Vinobhanagar in Kukatpally, the police said. The high drama unfolded when the accused abducted Vikas, son of a businessman, by luring him with chocolates around 7.30 p.m. The boy's father, Arjun, and other family members were on the first floor. Two hours later, the abductors called up Mr. Arjun on the latter's mobile demanding a ransom of Rs. 20 lakhs. Following a complaint from the boy's father, the police registered a case. The ACP, claiming himself as the boy's uncle spoke to the abductors over the mobile all through night. Finally, the kidnappers agreed to release the boy for Rs. 4 lakhs. Meanwhile, the police traced the mobile number of kidnappers to Shamshabad on the outskirts. However, it turned out to be a prepaid card number and the address of the customer was not mentioned. "Then, we began to analyse the incoming and outgoing calls made from that mobile. Of the 24 outgoing calls, three were made to another mobile belonging to Tejaram," Mr. Reddenna explained. Based on the data with the mobile company, Tejaram was traced in Bowenpally.
