Directive on tax arrears

COIMBATORE, NOV. 12 . The Department of Special Panchayats (downgraded from town panchayats) has asked the people living in the 52 special panchayats in the district to pay Property Tax, Professional Tax and water charges arrears immediately.

A press release from the Assistant Director of Special Panchayats, M.P. Gandhi, said that collection of tax and arrears had been intensified and a special drive was on since November 1. It would be carried out till November 30. Computerised registration of birth and death was on in the special panchayats, following the Government's direction that registration should be computerised, he said.
