BANGALORE, NOV. 12. A joint team of the High Grounds and the City Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested Nagaraj alias Gedde Nagaraj of Sriramapura on the charge of murdering Rajendra alias Bekkinakannu Rajendra. On November 2, an armed gang hacked to death Rajendra, who the police say was a key player in the Bangalore underworld in the eighties, near Hotel Chalukya. According to the police, Nagaraj had a long-standing enmity with Rajendra. Seven others accused in the murder Sunil, Vedi, Rohit, Vijay Kumar, Umesh, Mahesh and Captain Raja are at large, the police said. The police have formed four teams to trace them.
Teacher held
The MICO Layout police on Thursday arrested a teacher of a private school in Bismillahnagar on the charge of sexually abusing a student. On a complaint by the parents of the boy, an eighth standard student, the police arrested Kunjuman, a physical education instructor. The police said the accused had sexually abused the boy on several occasions.
Recovered
The Rajagopalanagar police on November 9 arrested two persons and recovered from them copper cables and machinery worth Rs. 80,000. The police said the arrested persons, Sugendra (23) of Swatantrapalya and Kumar (19) of Yeshwantpur, had stolen the goods from industrial sheds in Rajagopalanagar police station limits.
Engineer arrested
The R.T. Nagar police have arrested R.L. Varadaraju (35) of Malleswaram on the charge of negligent act leading to death. He was the structural engineer of the commercial complex under construction at Ganganagar, which collapsed on November 6 resulting in the death of five labourers, the police said.
