Aid yet to reach kin of suicide victims

NELLORE, NOV. 14. The families of two farmers who had committed suicide seven months continue to languish thanks to the indifference of officials concerned. The farmers' kin are on the verge of starvation.

Officials who had visited the village then had promised help, but seven months later nothing has reached the families.

It was on May 25, that Singayya of Kondapuram mandal committed suicide, leaving behind his wife and seven children. Another farmer, Madhav, committed suicide on May 27, leaving behind his wife, two children, and aged parents.

On learning about the suicides officials concerned immediately contacted the families and promised assistance. However, that was the last time the families saw the officials and they seriously doubt whether the Government would extend any aid at all
