Protest against Seer's arrest continues

By Our Correspondent

ADILABAD, NOV. 14. The protest against the arrest of Kanchi Seer, Sri Jayendra Saraswati, continued here for the third day with the Mahant of Sri Ramchandra Gopala Krishna Mutt, Adilabad, Sri Yogananda Saraswati, on Sunday leading a rasta roko by activists of Hindu organisations and concerned citizens in Adilabad town. The agitators stopped movement of heavy vehicles on the national highway 7 for about one hour.

The slogan-shouting protesters took out a rally from the Mutt to the Thakur hotel junction on the highway. The agitators demanded immediate release of the Seer who, they said could not be guilty of murder.

The police arrested the protesters and later released them.

WARANGAL: The members of the BJP, RSS and VHP demanded the immediate release of Kanchi Shankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi.

The BJP workers staged a rasta roko at Hasanparthy obstructing the vehicular movement on the busy Karimnagar and Warangal road for over one hour.

Addressing the gathering, BJP district secretary, M. Ramachandra Reddy. described the arrest of Swamiji as attack on Hinduism and accused the Central Government of colluding with anti-Hindu forces.

"The Governments of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and the Government at the Centre were trying to appease a section of people in the country. However, the BJP and its allies will resist such actions,'' he said.
