KARIMNAGAR, NOV. 14. Water from Sriramsagar project (SRSP) was being released to the National Thermal Power Corporation, Ramagundam, which is facing acute water shortage, for power generation at its seven units. According to an official release here today, the water from the SRSP D-83 canal would be released to the NTPC and stored at its reservoir for meeting the power generation requirements. The SRSP officials have appealed to the farmers and elected representatives not to obstruct flow of water to the NTPC power plant as all the Southern States would be forced into darkness if there was no power generation. The SRSP authorities have assured the farming community all along the SRSP command area about the release of water for drinking water requirements in the month of December to store in tanks and lakes. On the other hand, the police have been conducting checks at all vital points to avoid diversion of water to fields and tanks and ensure that water flows freely to the NTPC reservoir.
