Protest against change in train time
By Our Staff Reporter
KOZHIKODE,
NOV. 15.
The Calicut Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has protested against the move of the Railway authorities to operate the West Coast Express as a day train.
In a fax message to the authorities concerned, the CCCI president C.E. Chakunny said the action would adversely affect the commuters in the Malabar region. The chamber alleged that the Railways had acted under pressure from certain quarters, despite the public demand not to run the train as a day service. Mr. Chakunny welcomed the statement of the Chennai Railway Action Committee, which was set up recently, that it would extend support to demand that the West Coast Express run as a night train.
