KOCHI, NOV. 15. It was a normal day for former Supreme Court judge V.R. Krishna Iyer on Monday. Except that the telephone did not stop ringing. Greetings streamed in on his 90th birthday, but there were no celebrations, as insisted by Mr. Iyer. M. Ratna Singh, Advocate General and T.M. Jacob, former Minister for Water Resources were among the prominent persons who called on Mr. Iyer. Calls, however, came from all around. Prominent callers were Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister; V.S. Achuthanandan, Leader of the Opposition; A.K. Antony, former Chief Minister; Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI(M) State secretary; V.M. Sudheeran, Congress leader and Swami Agnivesh, social activist. As the afternoon shower stopped, he went out for his routine walk at the Durbar Hall ground, along with his companion for evenings, literary critic M.K. Sanu. In the evening, his juniors organised a reception in honour of one of the stalwarts in Indian judiciary and social activism.
