RTC union's plea to Government
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
NOV. 15.
The RTC Transport Mazdoor Sangh has demanded sales tax exemption on diesel for the RTC and a crackdown on illegal private bus operations.
In a press release here, the sangh, citing reduction on sales tax on fuel for aircraft and abolition of the same on helmets, said the recent hike in diesel prices had resulted in an additional expenditure of Rs. 300 crore on the RTC. Since the corporation had not hiked the bus fares accordingly, the Government should waive the sales tax on diesel for the corporation.
Announcing that the sangh would stage a dharna in front of the Transport Commissioner's office on November 18 at 3 p.m. and observe a Struggle Day on November 30 across the State by holding meetings and sporting red badges while on duty, the sangh leaders demanded total reimbursement of concessions given by RTC to different sections of society.
