dated November 17, 1954: JP's regret

Mr. Jaya Prakash Narayan, the Praja Socialist leader, said in Bombay on November 16 that he had "definitely and deliberately" given up politics for ever. He said he was neither engaged in politics at present, nor would he involve himself in any party politics in future. "I may occasionally attend party meetings and give my advice if asked for." He said his only interest was in constructive activities and he had decided to devote his entire life to the Bhoodan movement. Mr. Narayan expressed regret at the internal quarrels in the party and said he had definite views on the issue of controversy.
