KASARAGOD, NOV. 16. The District and Sessions judge, S. S. Satheesh Chandran, today sentenced all the five accused in the Ganesh Bandari murder case for life imprisonment. They will have to undergo three-and-a-half-years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) also. Both sentence will run concurrently. Ganesh Bandari (32) of Pallam near here was assaulted by a mob on September 20, 1993, while he was on his way home from Thayalangadi. Bandari, who sustained major injuries on his head and body died at a hospital in Mangalore the next day. Bandari was a victim of communal disturbance occurred in Kasaragod and nearby areas in 1993. Those accused were: E. K. Ismail, his brother E. K. Aboobacker, T. A. Harris, Sabeer Bappidi and T. A. Manof. Four among the nine accused (accused six to nine) were acquitted by the court.
