Typing institutes' plea to YSR

By Our Special Correspondent

VISAKHAPATNAM, NOV. 16. The Andhra Pradesh Technical (Commercial) Institutes Association (APTCIA) has requested the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to initiate steps to help typewriting and shorthand institutes to come out of their difficulties and survive.

``The profession is in dire straits with the number of students appearing for typewriting and shorthand examinations coming down drastically in the changed circumstances. The 3,00 and odd typewriting institutes in the State are facing severe financial problem and several of them have been closed,'' the association has said in a recent representation sent to Dr. Reddy by the president of the association, C.V. Purnachandra Rao.

The APTCIA wants the Government to waive the profession tax levied on institutes.
