PCC chief calls for rejuvenating party

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, NOV. 16. The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president, K. Keshava Rao, conferred with the senior leaders of the party including former Chief Ministers and MPs on Tuesday to inject new ideas for rejuvenating the party's functioning.

The former Chief Ministers, N. Janardhan Reddy and N. Bhaskar Rao and MPs -- V. Hanumantha Rao and G. Venkata Swamy -- were among those who attended the meeting at the party headquarters.

Later addressing a press conference, Dr. Keshava Rao said the PCC would be geared up to play a vital role in taking the good work of the Government to the people. To a question whether the party was prepared to debate the tenders issue with the Telugu Desam, as the Government was unable to join issue due to legal hurdles, he said the Government was in a better position to discuss the issue. Moreover, the forthcoming Assembly session would provide the opportunity to the Opposition to raise the issue, he said.

On the promise of nominated posts to party workers, he said the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, would do justice to sincere party workers.
