MYSORE, NOV.16. The newly constructed 20-bed eye ward and HIV/AIDS care and support centre of the Vivekananda Memorial Hospital was inaugurated by Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra at Sargur in H.D. Kote taluk on Tuesday. The swamiji appreciated the facilities and care extended by the hospital to rural and tribal people. Appreciating the work being done by Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), which was extending high quality healthcare to the rural people in H.D. Kote, the swamiji urged other non-governmental organisations and institutions to emulate the SVYM in social service. M.R. Seetharam, chief of health activities, Vivekananda Memorial Hospital, spoke about the highlights and benefits of the community-financed health (CFH) scheme. R. Balasubramaniam, president of the SVYM, said that the eye ward and the CFH scheme would be a new addition on the occasion of the organisation's 20th anniversary celebrations. S. Prasad, president of Sargur Lions Club; S.V. Yogesh Kumar, president of Sargur Merchants' Association; Narayan Shetty of Kalpavruksha Resource Centre, Myrada; and Nagaraj, Yedala Resource Centre, Myrada, were present.
