MYSORE, NOV. 16. The city police have arrested one person and recovered 12 cellphones valued at Rs. 75,000 from him. According to a press release, Adil Ahmed, alias Chand Pasha (22), fell into the police net at a suburban bus stand in the city on Friday. During interrogation, he not only confessed to stealing cellphones but also led the police to two electronics shops on K.T. Street from where 12 stolen mobile phones were recovered. He has been remanded in judicial custody. The Mysore Police Commissioner, Pravin Sood, has appealed to the people, who have lost their cellphones, to approach the Central Crime Branch (CCB) to identify their handsets. Mr. Sood had handed over the case to the CCB after a spate of complaints of cellphone thefts were received. He has congratulated the Inspectors, C. Upendra and Cheluvarju, and the staff for successfully concluding the operation. The police have also arrested four persons for felling four fully grown sandalwood trees on the Regional Institute of Education premises in Manasagangothri. They were caught recently while they were trying to transport the sandalwood after cutting them into pieces, the police said.
