TIRUCHI, NOV. 16 . A four-member student team of the Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) has won an international scholarship for participating in the Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition (GSEC), scheduled for February 2005 at Seattle. The GSEC will be conducted by the University of Washington, the Global Business Centre, the Centre for Technology Entrepreneurship and the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs, between February 22 and 25, 2005. The BIM group is among the 16 chosen for the final round out of 170 teams from universities throughout the world. The winner will receive seed-funding to start its own venture. Responding to the invitation from the GSEC for submitting business plans in one of the two thematic areas Health care, or Information/Communication Technology to find creative and commercially sustainable ways of addressing poverty, the BIM team presented its social venture, `ProGreen,' to provide sustainable livelihood for people at the grassroots, through leveraging a sound business concept. The team, comprises four second year MBA students Santhosh. R, Saravanan. S, Deepak Bhatter and Anitha Parthasarathy, says the Director of the Institute, M. Shankaran.
